Sustainable Agriculture and Climate Adaptation Program (SACAP)
Objective
To empower smallholder farmers with knowledge and tools for climate-smart agriculture, ensuring food security and resilience to climate change.
Background
Agriculture is the backbone of Kenya’s rural economy, yet many small-scale farmers struggle with declining soil fertility, unpredictable weather patterns, and lack of access to sustainable farming techniques.

Actions Taken
- Training farmers on organic farming, soil conservation, and water-efficient irrigation techniques.
- Introducing drought-resistant crop varieties to improve agricultural productivity.
- Establishing farmer cooperatives to enhance access to markets and financial support.
- Promoting agroforestry by integrating trees with crop farming to improve soil health and carbon sequestration.
Impact:
- Over 2,000 farmers trained on climate-smart agricultural techniques.
- Increased farm yields by up to 40% through improved soil management practices.
- Strengthened community resilience to climate change, reducing dependency on food aid.
