Our Mission
We enhance the livelihoods of communities by increasing their adaptive capacity to climate change and global environmental change through sustainable agriculture, land restoration initiatives and capacity building.

Leading project
Land Restoration
Objective: To rehabilitate degraded landscapes in Baringo County, Kenya, by restoring soil health, increasing vegetation cover, and improving livelihoods for local communities.
Background: Baringo has suffered from severe land degradation due to overgrazing, erratic rainfall, and the spread of the invasive Prosopis juliflora (Mathenge) species. This has led to the loss of productive pasturelands, negatively impacting pastoralist communities that rely on livestock for their livelihoods.
Implementing sustainable land management practices such as controlled grazing, agroforestry, and soil conservation techniques.
Removing invasive Prosopis juliflora species and converting them into useful products like animal feed and biochar.
Establishing community-led restoration sites where indigenous vegetation is replanted to restore biodiversity.
Leading project
Sustainable Agriculture and Climate Adaptation Program (SACAP)
Objective: To empower smallholder farmers with knowledge and tools for climate-smart agriculture, ensuring food security and resilience to climate change.
Background: Agriculture is the backbone of Kenya’s rural economy, yet many small-scale farmers struggle with declining soil fertility, unpredictable weather patterns, and lack of access to sustainable farming techniques.
Training farmers on organic farming, soil conservation, and water-efficient irrigation techniques.
Introducing drought-resistant crop varieties to improve agricultural productivity.
Promoting agroforestry by integrating trees with crop farming to improve soil health and carbon sequestration.

What we do
Our Key Focus Areas

Land Restoration & Climate Resilience
We promotes Sustainable Land Management and Nature-Based Solutions, establishing tree nurseries to restore degraded landscapes.

Biodiversity Conservation
We combat invasive species like Prosopis juliflora, restore grazing lands, and rehabilitate farmlands to protect ecosystems and improve rural livelihoods.

Education & Capacity Building
Through workshops and training, we empower farmers, pastoralists, and students with knowledge on climate adaptation, SDGs, and ecosystem restoration.

Disaster Preparedness & Response
ORECOLIVE addresses droughts, land degradation, and food crises by developing strategies for vulnerable regions to build resilience and minimize impacts.

Community Empowerment
By promoting climate-smart agriculture, regenerative farming, and food security initiatives, ORECOLIVE supports local communities in gaining economic independence.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Integration
We align our projects with SDGs, focusing on sustainable practices that foster environmental conservation, community resilience, and long-term development.
